Ultra-Fast Ticket Triage and SLA Routing with Groq LPU

Triage support tickets in sub-seconds with Groq LPUs in Kestra. Extract sentiment, classify P1-P4 urgency, and route high-risk incidents to Slack.

Customer support organizations and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams receive hundreds of customer requests and operational alerts every hour. When critical enterprise incidents or high-churn-risk complaints sit unassigned in ticketing backlogs, Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are breached, revenue is lost, and customer dissatisfaction escalates. Traditional LLM API inference often takes 3 to 10 seconds per request, introducing unacceptable lag for real-time customer routing.

This blueprint orchestrates an ultra-low-latency ticket triage and SLA routing pipeline powered by Groq Language Processing Units (LPUs). Running state-of-the-art open-weights models (qwen/qwen3.6-27b) at 300 to 500+ tokens per second, it extracts structured urgency classifications (P1 Critical through P4 Low), sentiment analysis, customer churn risk, and recommended response directives in sub-second inference, instantly routing critical alerts to dedicated Slack incident channels.

How it works

  1. Webhook Ingestion: The flow is triggered instantaneously via an authenticated HTTP Webhook when a new ticket is submitted in Zendesk, Freshdesk, Intercom, or Jira Service Management.
  2. Groq LPU Structured Inference: An isolated python:3.11-slim container calls the Groq API utilizing native JSON Schema validation (response_format={"type": "json_object"}). In under 300 milliseconds, qwen/qwen3.6-27b evaluates the customer's plan tier, problem description, and emotional tone.
  3. Classification Taxonomy:
    • Urgency Tier: Categorizes requests into P1_CRITICAL (outage / revenue blocker), P2_HIGH, P3_MEDIUM, or P4_LOW with target response times (e.g. 15 minutes for P1).
    • Churn Risk: Analyzes account tier and severity to detect at-risk enterprise accounts.
    • Department Routing: Directs the request to INFRASTRUCTURE, BILLING, SECURITY, or PRODUCT_SUPPORT.
  4. Dynamic SLA Routing: An io.kestra.plugin.core.flow.If condition checks if the ticket is P1_CRITICAL or churn_risk == HIGH:
    • On Critical Incidents: Dispatches a high-priority incident card to #incident-sev1 with recommended mitigation actions.
    • On Standard Requests: Sends a summary card to #support-triage.
  5. Downstream API Integration: Exposes typed triage outputs via OutputValues for downstream CRM ticket tagging or PagerDuty escalation.

What you get

  • Sub-Second Triage Latency: Leverages Groq LPUs to classify tickets in 200-400 ms, compared to 5,000+ ms on conventional cloud LLM providers.
  • Guaranteed JSON Structure: Enforces strict schema conformance for automated downstream processing.
  • SLA Breach Prevention: Automatically alerts on-call teams to P1 outages within seconds of customer submission.
  • Prioritized Account Defense: Safeguards enterprise accounts by flagging high churn risk complaints before customer relationships deteriorate.

Expected outputs

Downstream CRM update tasks or incident response systems can reference the typed metrics produced by output_triage_metadata:

Output Variable Description Expression Example
urgency_tier Classified severity level (P1_CRITICAL, P2_HIGH, P3_MEDIUM, P4_LOW) {{ outputs.output_triage_metadata.values.urgency_tier }}
sentiment Customer emotional tone (ANGRY, FRUSTRATED, NEUTRAL, POSITIVE) {{ outputs.output_triage_metadata.values.sentiment }}
churn_risk Assessed risk of account attrition (HIGH, MEDIUM, LOW) {{ outputs.output_triage_metadata.values.churn_risk }}
assigned_department Designated internal team (INFRASTRUCTURE, BILLING, SECURITY) {{ outputs.output_triage_metadata.values.assigned_department }}
sla_response_minutes Target response window in minutes {{ outputs.output_triage_metadata.values.sla_response_minutes }}
inference_latency_ms Groq LPU execution duration in milliseconds {{ outputs.output_triage_metadata.values.inference_latency_ms }}

Who it's for

  • Customer Support Operations & Helpdesk Leaders managing high-volume ticketing queues across enterprise and self-serve tiers.
  • Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) & DevOps Teams automating incoming incident alert triage and on-call escalation.
  • AI Product Engineers building low-latency intelligent routing agents into operational workflows.

Why orchestrate this with Kestra

Running standalone microservices for LLM classification requires hosting persistent servers, managing queue retries, and configuring secret rotation. Kestra provides:

  • Serverless Event-Driven Invocation: Runs on demand via authenticated webhooks with zero idle server costs.
  • Declarative Secrets Encryption: Securely manages Groq API tokens and Slack webhooks through encrypted storage.
  • Dynamic Flow Branching: Natively routes execution paths to different channels or downstream flows based on LLM outputs without custom router code.

Prerequisites

  • A Groq Cloud API key from console.groq.com.
  • An incoming Slack webhook URL for incident notifications.

Secrets

Configure the following secrets in your Kestra namespace or instance settings:

Secret Name Description Example
GROQ_API_KEY Groq Cloud API authentication key gsk_••••••••••••
SLACK_WEBHOOK_URL Incoming webhook URL for destination Slack channels https://hooks.slack.com/services/T00/B00/X00
WEBHOOK_KEY Secret authentication key for inbound ticket webhook trigger whk_live_a1b2c3d4e5

Quick start

  1. Import this blueprint into your Kestra instance under the company.ops namespace.
  2. Add your GROQ_API_KEY and SLACK_WEBHOOK_URL into Settings > Secrets.
  3. Click Execute and run with the default parameters to inspect Groq's sub-second classification speed and Slack notification card.
  4. Configure your helpdesk (Zendesk, Freshdesk, Intercom) to POST incoming ticket payloads to the inbound_ticket_webhook URL.

Common pitfalls & notes

  • Groq Model Naming: Ensure you use active Groq model identifiers (such as qwen/qwen3.6-27b). Deprecated models will return a 400 bad request.
  • JSON Mode Temperature: Keep temperature low (0.0 to 0.2) to maintain strict JSON schema compliance.
  • Rate Limits: Groq Cloud free tier includes generous requests-per-minute limits, but enterprise workloads should monitor rate headers for high-concurrency spikes.

How to extend

  • CRM Automatic Tagging: Add an io.kestra.plugin.core.http.Request task to automatically apply tags and priority levels back into Zendesk or Jira Service Desk APIs.
  • PagerDuty Escalation: Trigger an io.kestra.plugin.pagerduty.Incident task if urgency_tier == 'P1_CRITICAL' during off-business hours.
  • Customer Email Auto-Responder: Chain a personalized acknowledgment email using the extracted recommended_action via AWS SES or SendGrid.
